The most popular baby names of 2019
When you’re pregnant, you quickly realize that pregnancy involves a lot of work. A baby’s room, pregnancy ailments and, of course, coming up with a name. Find inspiration and the most popular baby names of the past year here?
The Name Book
When I was pregnant, we were also stuck with baby names. Want one of the most popular? Do you want an unusual name or maybe just primal Dutch?? We did know we wanted a short name, one that matched our last name. The first time it actually went pretty fast we found a suitable name. This was a name I had in my mind for some time. With the second one, we found it harder, because it has to match our first son’s name again. We then found a cute name in the boys’ names book ( which of course you also have for girls). And still we often say to each other, the names really suit the boys.
The most popular baby names
And now the Social Security Administration has announced the most popular baby names of 2018. In the past year, a whopping 797 parents named their newborn daughter ‘Julia’ and 681 times the name ‘Lucas’ appeared on a newborn boy’s birth card.
Differences by provinces
According to SVB, it is quite striking how big the differences of baby names are by province. For example, the boy’s name, Lucas, does not appear in the top ten in the provinces of North Brabant, Drenthe, Overijssel and Groningen. And while the name Jan is not in the national top 25, it is the most chosen boy’s name in Zeeland.
